{CLOSED}Signicase M1 Camera Review and Giveaway!

The kind folks at Signicase agreed to send me one of their real wood M1 Camera iPhone 4/4S cases for review, and I am so excited to share the details with you all. When Kels and I decided to upgrade to the iPhone 4S, we knew we wanted to get some protection for our investment considering that her 3GS took a few tumbles and the screen looked like a spiderweb. I have looked online for real wood cases before but hadn't really found anything that was cheap enough for my pocketbook and also a quality brand that I trusted.

Signicase M1 Camera

Enter Signicase. Kels found this beauty for me on the interwebs. I fell in love instantly. Just look at the detail! Here are the specifics from their website:

  • Universal design for iPhone 4/4S (white or black)
  • 100% handcrafted by natural eco-friendly material
  • Awesome surface texture
  • Protective felt on the inside back
  • Does not crash with screen protector
  • Ultra slim and lightweight (22g)

I was giddy with excitement waiting for it to arrive. It shipped from Hong Kong but arrived in just over a week, which I felt was pretty darn reasonable. I tore open the package to examine its beauty. Here's my breakdown:

  1. Craftsmanship: Amazing, especially considering how small this piece of wood is.
  2. Size: It's slightly chunky on the front and sides, and I had a hard time getting used to this, but after about a week I didn't notice it anymore. And because I have big hands the phone actually fits quite nicely in my paws.
  3. Look: I have the white phone and just love how it looks on the front--the white of the phone mixed with the walnut wood look.
  4. Smell: The first day I had it, Kels called from the grocery store and as I was talking I found myself sniffing deeply. I just love the smell of natural wood. Sometimes I pick it up just to smell it. Nature meets technology.
  5. Buttons: The minor downside with having big fingers and the wood case are that the on/off and volume buttons are kind of hard to push. Again, this took some getting used to, but after a week it's not nearly that big of a deal.
  6. Fit: It fits the iPhone 4/4S perfectly! I mean, it's really snug. It was hard to slide on the first time, but that's how you know it's good. The felt on the inside will protect the back from getting dust scratches, which is what happened with the plastic case I had on my 3GS.

One last thing: You may be thinking that such a thin piece of wood would be pretty fragile. Well, it is. So what happens if you drop your phone? Check out what Signicase promises about broken cases (Warranty & Return page):

Oops! We wish it never happens. All of our products are environmentally friendly, but at the same time they are inherently fragile. The wooden case may sacrifice itself from a severe impact to protect your iPhone/iPad/iPod. We understand that we're just human beings and sometimes things drop accidentally. It would be so sad if this really happened.

Be positive! We are willing to help you bring back the joy of uniqueness. We could offer you a second life for your beloved design. By sending us a digital photo and an explanation of what happened, we would like to give you a special offer to keep you happy.
